This Veteran's Day evening, Scoutmaster Doug and the Bear Scouts went to the Soldier's Home in Orting to help run the weekly Bingo game. The boys helped the residents mark their Bingo cards, hand out prizes from the prize carts and read off Bingos to make them official and make sure no one was cheating. They also served a snack of homemade cupcakes and cookies. It was a lot of fun and the boys were really well behaved and respectful.
At one point, I saw Ryley (pictured here on the far left) getting ice water for a few of the residents.
Overall it was a great experience. I (Doug) talked with a resident (also named Doug) who was in Vietnam. He had a brain stem injury, and as a result couldn't formulate his thoughts into words very well. He summed up Vietnam as "a big waste of time."
