High Rock Lookout Hiking Trail

This was the photo I found on the internet that inspired today's hike.

And we're off!

From where we parked we could see our destination Waaaaaaay up on the mountain.

A little hiking, and then we stopped for lunch. Ry is mixing up his kool-aid by moonwalking.

Trail #266. Hey wait...who's that guy in the red shirt?

Uncle Mike joined us on our Saturday hike, which was lots of fun!

Right before you ascend the last 100 yards (which is straight up a rock face) we found an old shack.

The old fire lookout tower, which Uncle Mike is sitting in front of, was built in 1929. It is one of three remaining fire lookout towers in Gifford Pinchot National Forest.

Okay...time to head up the last little bit!

We made it to the top!

Rainier was beautiful today.
The trail was 1.6 miles, but it was all uphill. It took us around 90mins to get to the top and about 45 to get back down.
Uncle Mike was the bravest of us all. Doug was not even brave enough to be the photographer for this picture. The drop behind Mike is 600 feet straight down.
This was a slightly safer photo. But still...

High Rock

Just read the following on the High Rock Lookout website..."Please use caution when exploring this area. Stay behind the cables." Note to official website...there are NO cables!
The views were amazing though. And who knew Josie could hold Mt. Rainier over her head?

Our first Family Ren Faire

Loved this guy's sign...

But this sign caught our eye more...in particular, Ry's eye.

He loved it, and hitr the target every time. Armor, a shield, etc.

This guy was funny, he just stumbled around yelling at everyone. He looked Sue up and down and said she was a feisty one, and if he was 40 years younger I'd have a fight on my hands.

Josie didn't want to do archery but wanted her face painted instead.

Before the reveal, here's the best costume of the show. This rabbit guy was hard to look away from, very professional costume, the mouth even worked when he talked.

And here's our beautiful dragon princess.

Ren Faire Fight

For a buck each Ry and I participated in four rounds of battle.

I was not the champion I appear to be here...but I was the oldest guy in there.

Here Ry blocks my shot.

And he finished me off with a chop to the back.

Our final stop was the "Professional Showoff" show.

This guy was awesome. Very funny and very talented.



Also, very flexible, in a double jointed kinda way.
